This look was a favorite of mine & one I’ve had for awhile. I actually have had this little dress from JCREW for around a year. I wore it last year for the first time on the 4th. I put it with this exact nude sweater (a staple in my wardrobe) but instead a vineyard vines patriotic ball cap & boots & a red belt!!!! So you see, you can spice things up a bit! This Navajo Indian belt belonged to my beloved Great-Grandma Virgina- “nana gina” so I felt proud to be wearing something of hers. I actually wore the belt backwards if you must know!!! It’s the kind that you can attach your own buckle!! How sweeeet. My great grandma Virgina was my second mom & my best friend. She taught me life lessons I’ll never forget, she was the most faithful, true & loving woman of God I’ve ever met. She put others first ALWAYS. The scripture about love thy neighbor as thy self was her motto. She taught me that life experiences are worth more than items. I met so many people through my grandma & still do because she impacted every person she came in contact with. Just yesterday I was doing canvassing for the tea party in Seneca & I thought of her & her legacy that she left. I would say I’m Virgina’s granddaughter & people would light up & welcome me in with open arms. If I can tell you anything it’s that I want to be a woman with this kind of legacy, one that lives on even after she dies. My grandma had God as her number one always. I can remember as a child if my sister & I started to argue she would say “let’s not do that! Love! This is the day the Lord hath made & I will rejoice & be glad in it”. My grandma would do anything with us, or for us. Many of my first memories are cooking with my nana in the kitchen making pancakes. She made the best ones!!! Adrian loved her fried chicken. Anyways I wanna be like my “nana Gina” in everything I do. Who do you think of when reading this? Who exemplifies these qualities? Do you have something from someone that you treasure? Proverbs 31:10-31 King James Version (KJV)
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
