The 5 healthy snacks I can’t live without!!!

July 27, 2018

I love junk food just like the next gal (no shame) but generally when I try to keep what I’m eating healthy these are my go to’s!

1.Sweet Tooth

Halo Top Ice Cream | This Ice Cream will rock your world and keep your calorie count low! You can guilt free finish an entire pint and stay on track to loose weight as long as you’ve kept everything else in check! My favorite flavors are Cinnamon Roll, Cookies & Cream, & Cookie Dough! I literally keep a pint or two stored in the freezer in case I get a sudden sweet tooth!!!! I’ve done the leg work on testing flavors and these are the best-trust me! This ice cream is available at all grocery’s and I found it the other day at Casey’s!!! More information here! P.S. Some of the flavors are dairy free!!!!

2. Carbonation Fix

La Croix Sparkling Water | First attempt to like La Croix was a major bust-I actually hated it and refused to drink the container of Coconut I bought! I was testing it with my friend Hannah and she hated it too! I had heard it was all the rage and was bummed when I couldn’t jump on the train! Fast forward to a few weeks later on a study break I bought a can and thought this isn’t that bad…. Now I’m in love with La Croix!!! It’s so fresh and leaves me feeling lighter than Diet Cola!!! There are so many different flavors that I’m always trying a new one! 10/10 suggest sticking with it until you can love this beverage! It’s the greatest alternative to soda!!! My favorite flavor is Passionfruit or Berry! I tend to stay away from lime but it honestly isn’t horrible! I usually buy it at Sams or Cosco to get a good deal! More information here!

3. Snack Fix

Skinny Pop | I love Skinny Pop and eat it all the time for a snack! A travel size bag of skinny pop and a pink lady even sometimes double as a great lunch. The flavor is light and airy yet so tasty! If you regularly love popcorn then give Skinny Pop a try!!!! More information here!

4. Protein

Beef Jerkey | As I sit here writing this blog post I am craving beef jerkey-cause this girl loves her some!!! YUM! It’s a great snack to get in some protein yet keep carb count low! In the past loosing fifty pounds I did a low carb diet and lived on this + chicken! It’s a little bit expensive so I reccomend buying the biggest bag! Portion control is important!!! My favorite kind is linked here!

5. Weight Loss Supplement

Skinny Stix | I absolutely LOVE Skinny Stix! I have been using these bad boys since high school! I used to mix them with low calorie lemonade and ice in our magic bullet for a daily morning refresher! I now just add them to water with ice because I don’t have time to make the refresher but I still love it just as much! I used to be able to buy these in Walgreens but they discontinued them so Amazon.com is the only option! I use one a day and it curbs my appetite and gives me more energy! I supplement it for soda or coffee!! I never exceed more than one stix a day and am usually missing them when I don’t have them! These are a great investment and the berry flavor is so tasty!!!! Linked here!

He designs custom jewelry When I was in 8th grade I went to Paris with him and tried on a beautiful necklace designed for Louis Vuitton. My mom has also been an inspiration for me as she worked for the Este Lauder and Clinique corporations while I was growing up actually for about 10 years. I also watched my mom designing the interior of our home! She has always pushed me as an empowered woman to be an empowered woman!  I love my parents.”

HER SAM EDELMAN STORY

Question: Okay, so I’m dying and all of Sewanee that knows you is dying-you work for Sam Edelman! OMG! Tell me more about what that’s like!!?

Queen Tessa Fox: “Okay, Alexa I KNOW IT’S CRAZY COOL RIGHT!”

“After graduation (at Sewanee!)  I wanted to pursue design. I went to Parson during the summer and took a class and that was like the hardest thing I have ever done. There isn’t a thing like that here. I got good exposure and realized how challenging that field is. I realized I needed to either go to graduate school or work in fashion/design somewhere to see where that would take me.”

“I decided to just go for the gold!”

“I just really got out there and started looking! I was primarily interviewed by Women besides Sam Edelman himself during my journey. I looked into Archeticual Digest and publishing. I started with no connections-I realized I was going to have to get into this field on my own. Throughout the summer after graduation I would commute to NYC and interview with people-if they weren’t my connection they knew someone who was! It was really cool but also exhausting. My favorite part of this journey had to be meeting people-people are so inspiring.”

“On a particular coffee meeting with a connection through family/Sewanee, I met someone who was connected to the Sam Edelman brand. Long story short-I landed an interview with Sam Edelman himself. This was the big shots and after a long summer searching I was thrilled!”

*Me: What did you wear! Already knowing it would be the perfect look!*

“I wore all black! A pair of tailored pants with a simple black blouse with darling cap sleeves-I wore my first pair of Sam Edelman shoes-The Loraine Loafers inspired a bit by Gucci! They were leopard so that was my fun pop! I was classic, put together and excited.  I actually cut my hair for my interview after reading an article in Vogue talking about the bob being back! I was sp inspired and just went for it! (BTW it is so darling!!) I wanted something exciting! I actually ended up mentioning this in my interview-How I follow the trend and I not only love it but live it! I talked about cutting my hair which really interested Sam.”

“Something I appreciate most about Sam Edelman is that he is so personal! He and his wife have a real success and they are so kind. They are also just the absolute coolest people ever-a small company feel but are actually very big!”

“It’s honestly so interesting Alexa, the difference in the fashion house companies. I learned all of this throughout my journey too!”

“So this was a huge year for Sam Edelman!!! We are the number one successful dress shoe brand at department stores in the united states. We are all about comfort! We don’t do anything unless it is comfortable and fabulous! Our customer is practical and I know you know that Alexa.”

“Sam Edelman is not fast fashion! We are intentional in our design and we put our own inspiration on every piece. Essentially every year the Sam Edelman team will go to Europe and go anywhere and everywhere buying what inspires them. It could be a feather-whatever it is gets grouped together and put in designing out shoes. We start wow and then shoe design trickles down into a wow yet practical.”

“Sam Edelman has it’s own identity! We are our own.”

P.S. Y’all I even got an inside scoop on next falls promotion design! That’s off the record of course! 😉

MY BBG EXPERIENCE (WEEK ONE)

March 4, 2018

BBG

Bikini Body Guide

WEEK ONE

Why I started the program: I honestly can’t give you one solid reason as to why I chose to start this fitness program because there are just so many. I’m a blogger, an insta fanatic and I have seen this program EVERYWHERE. I literally have seen all my favorite gals joining and LOVING IT. I was skeptical because it is another monthly cost, an additional time commitment and I wondered would it actually work? I went back and fourth with myself for weeks and I finally decided to go for it. I have been eating healthy for two months, consistently drinking half my body weight in OZ of water and I have lost a total of ten lbs. I set a birthday goal and decided I needed to pick up exercising to really get things moving! Previously I did an intensive lifestyle change losing fifty pounds by cutting carbs, drinking water and exercising! The results I saw were insane-so I figured exercise is what was missing this time around. In 2018 I set a goal to live my best life and getting healthy/fit was a major part of reaching that goal. So here I am one week into BBG and already loving it. The community is amazing, the workouts are intensive and I feel empowered. I FEEL A DIFFERENCE!

Is it hard? I mean I hate working out and I’m like a baby when it comes to knowing stuff! Can I still do it?: YES, it is physically hard but the HOW to do it isn’t. Kayla breaks the workouts down to the basics and I feel confident in saying anyone can do it/figure out the app. I worked out a lot in high school so I have a lot of background knowledge about many of the exercises but the app has very simple directions if you are not familiar with exercise what so ever.

BBG What does that mean? Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines

Wait what even is this?  This is a weekly consecutive work out program teaching gals all over how to live healthy, eat healthily and exercise!

How was week one?  Week 1 was so empowering but also Y’all it was also challenging. I really had to push myself to get through those basic beginner workouts!!! I remember day three it got a little easier because I finally had the mentality that if I wanted this and I mean really wanted this I was going to have to WORK for it. So I made it through workout after workout going to bed sore, waking up sore and absolutely loving it. I also loved tracking my progress in the app with how much water I was drinking, checking off my goals and basically ruling the world! They don’t call us Kayla’s Army for nothing! It was so much fun and I feel 100% excited to start week two tomorrow!

Do I see/feel results yet? YES, I DO! I know that it seems crazy and I didn’t until the very end of this week! I felt the soreness every day but I didn’t really see results until I went to put on my dress this morning for church-I noticed how much better it fit! My stomach wasn’t taking over the world and I didn’t feel uncomfortable! I felt results after just one week of BBG!!!!

So how do I get this/what are the things you post on your insta stories?  I downloaded the SWEAT app on the app store and signed up for the exercise program/eating plan! After that, I paid, created a profile and literally got started! (I explored it a little before I kicked off the first resistance training) It was so cool and I was a little overwhelmed! I talked with my mom who actually started the program a little before me and she told me I had to do the reading provided because it was so informative! I’m loving that we are doing it together and that there is a community of strong women empowering each other! The stories I post are my trophies for completing the weekly/daily goals and I LOVE THEM! Being the social media guru I am…I love sharing these! It encourages me to keep at it even when I don’t see the results immediately.

Should I get it? Will it also work on me? Honestly, this is a question I can’t give a definite answer on….everyone has a different body and a different story. I believe everyone will feel a difference but not everyone will see results at the same pace. I think it that this aspect varies person to person but I do believe that you will feel better as soon as you start. If you get it we can work out together by joining the BBG gals all over! You can challenge your friends and have that accountability partner really helps!

I’ve linked here how to start & the IG account of Kayla Itsines here!

Sorry, it took me a while to get this post up…I’m in midterm season and I just haven’t had the time! I have really enjoyed all of the encouraging messages, questions and comments on social media about starting BBG-I hope this post helped answer some of those questions! Please continue to reach out if you still have more thoughts or questions! I love this program already and would love to see y’all join too!

I will be doing a separate post about modest workout attire very soon as it has been very requested!! I can’t wait to share how I bring my daily commitment to dressing modestly into the gym! You will recognize you don’t have to compromise to be comfy, cute and active! I love being the gal in the skirt in the gym as it makes me feel feminine and covered!!! Look for that soon!

I’ll be posting my progress pictures on next week’s BBG post as Y’all have requested I do weekly updates!!!!

All my love,

Alexa Sue-Anne Dudley

Be blessed and bless others!

My 5 Favorite Beauty Products Right Now.

February 20, 2018

Y’all it has been a hot minute since I have been on the blog!! Sorryyyy!

Last week I actually had 4 exams and that alone made it a crazy busy week. Being busy is a great reminder of how blessed I am to have the opportunity to study at Sewanee.

I did a poll on Instagram a few days back asking what kind of posts y’all would like to see more of! It was beauty and college-surprisingly it was really close and I even got a few messages suggesting I do some of both! (if you don’t follow me it’s @1998miss)

So basically I’m gonna be kicking that off! I have done some critical work on the college part and that is coming soon. Literally, I CAN NOT WAIT TO SHARE but today I am going to be doing a post about beauty!!!

This is an area I am very interested in and so I look forward to talking more about it.

I thought I would start with a pretty basic post sharing my five favorite beauty things right now! This was actually an idea I came up with for my youtube channel but decided I would make it a blog post instead!

Essentially I will create a page on 1998miss.com dedicated to beauty and here is the mini launch!

MY FIVE FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS RIGHT NOW.

My #1 A1 DAY 1 BEAUTY PRODUCT: Chanel Le Tient Ultra Tenue Flawless Foundation

I love this product because it provides a natural look with great coverage. Literally, this + a little rose vaseline for your lips and you’re golden! It is absolutely an investment foundation and I can attest to its high quality. It’s important to buy good foundation if you wear it because it is for the health of your skin! I have used BB creme, Clinique, Laura Mercier, Dior, and Chanel is currently my favorite (although the others are great options too)!

Get it here!

#2: Living Proof Hair Products

Okay, Y’all this is something I can not live without! I highly recommend purchasing Living Proof hair care as it is a staple in my everyday life. There isn’t a product that they sell that I don’t like. I have tried almost everything they have available and it is literally LIVING PROOF IT WORKS. I shared a post this summer talking about my journey with hair growth and living proof was apart of the story. You can read that post here!! I used to use very inexpensive shampoo and conditioner not knowing how it was damaging my hair. Y’all know how important my hair is to me so this was a big revelation! My mom introduced (surprise-she always knows the good stuff) Living Proof Fizz products into my life my freshman year of college and I had immediate hair growth results. Among hair growth, I had healthy hair again and was able to style it without heat! Literally, I’d air dry after washing and it was golden for a FEW days! Living proof is available at Target, on Amazon, and on the Living Proof website. 100% you need this in your life.

Get it here!!

#3: DOVE dry shampoo!

Self-explanatory because I am the queen of dry shampoo. I love this dry shampoo just a little more than I should-being in college it’s a lifesaver. Literally, I wear it on the daily because honestly, I like the smell and the volume boost! Ask my gal pals and they will say it’s a necessity in my life. The great thing about this product is that it is long lasting, has different options and is only $4! I’m not joking it is the most affordable hair care product ever + it’s available literally everywhere. I have used all the different options and my favorite is the volume boost! My hair is naturally a little flat and a little spray of this and it always does the trick! If your spending more than you should on Dry Shampoo and are looking for a switch this one get’s my gold star. (I have done the leg work-trust me on this one) It’s just as good as a 38$ bottle of Fredrick Fekkai dry shampoo but better!

Get it absolutely anywhere like here!

#4: Neutrogena Wipes

If you are a gal out there you need these. I promise they will rock your world and you will be wishing you had them a long time ago! I am a HUGE advocate of getting the Neutrogena brand as I have tested others and they don’t provide the same satisfactory results/quality. I know the other brands might offer a $2 less price but you won’t love them as much! These are handy dandy, quick and easy wipes you’ll love. They provide refreshing wash to your skin and are SO SPEEDY when you are tired-I know Y’all know what I am talking about. Those nights that you just don’t wanna wash your face and you just barely got into your PJ’s before crashing. This is the trick to keeping beautiful skin while getting to bed early after a late night. Also, I love using them to help get off a messy facemask without getting the mask in my hairline! (that’s a pro tip) The greatest thing is these little wipes are also available everywhere, are so transportable, never messy and NEVER SPILL! They are under $8 and will make you happy! So go for it and invest in your skin, sleep and happiness with Neutrogena. I promise you won’t regret it and if you do you’re just crazy! LOL.

Get them absolutely anywhere like here!

#5: Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Treatment Cream

For the gals who get a little acne here or there and just can’t deal. Almost once every two weeks I get a little something unfriendly on my face and this cream does the trick. It’s rapid action and I see results overnight! I know I can put a dab on my area of concern and it will be considerably better before I know it. I always have it on hand so I am worry free! I want to let y’all in on a little secret even without this product on how to reduce acne considerably! It’s really simple and Y’all have heard it time and again. DRINK YO WATER FAM! It’s so good and it’s so good for you! I know as I used to be an avid Coke Zero addict what that sounds like but I promise it is! I stopped drinking Coke Zero and started drinking half of my body weight in oz of water…I have seen considerable results. I didn’t ever have a severe acne issue but I would still get a little acne here or there and it would drive me nuts! Switching from soda to water has increased my energy, given me, overall healthy skin, made me feel better, decreased my appetite and kick started my diet with losing 5lbs immediately. So get this cream but for pro, results drink some water too! I promise it starts out hard but after two months I can’t live without my 1.5-liter water bottle! I have had this particular bottle of Clearasil since my freshman year and I am going to be finished with my sophomore year in two months. IT IS LONG LASTING! I promise Y’all will love this medicated cream and it’s under $10!

Get it here!

Alrighty y’all those are my top 5 go to things right now! It was so hard to narrow it down to just 5 so be ready for more of these posts! Hope you liked my first real beauty post!

I’ll be posting more soon! Hope that you have a great week and a happy Tuesday!

 Bless others and be blessed!

XOXO,

Alexa Sue-Anne Dudley
