Coffee Date #3

Happy November 1st!

Also quick Happy Birthday shoutout to my sweet friend Abigail Vogelsang!!!!!

Hey, Y’all welcome back to 1998miss.com I’m so excited you’re here and can’t wait for you to check out today’s blog post! Coffee Dates are sort of my favorite blog posts because I can share a little bit of everything I’m loving with y’all + I get a chance to be really personal with my readers! Unlike most of my posts, these are not just about fashion!

This is my third official coffee date on 1998miss.com so you haven’t missed many if you’re just now visiting for the first time! You can check out Coffee Date #1 and Coffee Date #2 here!

Grab your favorite cup of Joe and get cozy because here we go!

So I first off should say so much has happened since my last coffee date back in July but to kind of give you a brief update I’m currently back at Sewanee completing my Junior year as a Pre-Med, Psychology Major and hopefully a Chinese minor if the University will establish one. I just got back from fall break and finished my midterms getting 4 A’s out of the 6 classes I’m taking. This is a huge accomplishment for me since being in college because I really had to reteach myself how to study since I got to Sewanee! I’m so proud of myself for making such amazing improvements!! Thank you JESUS! I work out 3X a week and run which has been a great change in my life this semester! I am also being very intentional about what I’m eating and people are finally starting to notice my hair growth!!! Read this blog post to know why I’m excited about that! Also, I’m overloading this semester and couldn’t be busier! Between weekly blogging & youtubing, classes, studying, work study, leading worship at CRU, acapella, PMO, Sewanee Angels and Church I have almost zero time! But not to complain because I like it that way because I think I perform my best when I’m busy! I now blog every single week and sometimes twice a week with a guest blogger either a woman of faith or a Sewanee Featured Gal! This is so exciting because after 3 years of running 1998miss.com I finally have a schedule I LOVE! It has been so nice to feel organized and really get to choose in advance what I want each blog post to be about and each month on 1998miss.com to look like! On a very personal side note -my family has been going through something really difficult and midterms were really busy so I just took a break from blogging! I rejoined Instagram and the blog just last week with a new blog post talking about my two new skirt society skirts and how to style them each several completely different ways! You can read that post here! Skirt Society is one of my first few companies to sponsor me and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to work with such an awesome company! It’s exciting to have grown enough where I’m getting to feature beautiful clothes I love for free!

Before we move on to more fun things I would like to ask for prayer about a personal matter since we’re being real here and chatting over coffee. Just say a little prayer for me and my family :).

OKAY so here’s the lowdown on what I’m obsessed with recently!

THIS SONG:

I am so obsessed with Lauren Daigle’s song Rescue because it has literally lifted my spirits in the darkest moments these last few weeks! The lyrics couldn’t speak to my heart any more than they have and I’m so thankful I have had this song to listen to during this time. I literally love it more than anything else right now. She’s an incredible artist with a voice similar to Adele and singing for the glory of God! I honestly love her whole entire album so you should check it out here to listen!

THIS MESSAGE:

Surprise, Surprise I have been needing Jesus a whole lot more than usual so I’m filling my head, heart, and ears with his word! In addition to listening to Lauren Daigle ALL the time, I’m also listening to a message on youtube every single day. I love listening to Pastor Steven Furtick on Youtube and when I was listening to this week I found the best sermon. I’m not kidding Y’all it hit the hammer on the head to help me with what I’m going through. It was such a moving message, and it touched my heart. I highly recommend listening to all of his messages but especially this one! It’s called You Must Be Important and you can listen to it here.

THIS QUOTE:

THIS NAIL POLISH:

I still love the polish I shared on the last coffee date post but have been using this color a lot! It’s a little bit different and it’s chip resistant! So quick and easy to use + I’m saving so much money by not going to a salon. Get this great shade at CVS or similar stores-It’s called Chai on Life | Shade 180 for Sally Hansen’s Color Therapy line! Also available here!

THIS BLOG POST ON LONESTARSOUTHERN.COM:

So I’m just thrilled for a blogger I love named Kate from over at Lonestarsouthern.com because she just got engaged!!!!! I have been following her blog for a while now and I feel like I know her as a close friend lol-but I know this is a precious blessing from God that she’s marrying Andrew! She’s a beautiful gal who you NEED to follow! She’s always sharing uplifting content and actually started her blog in college! This is one of the reasons I love her so much as a current blogger at Sewanee! So check out this heartwarming post here and follow Kate on Instagram here! P.S. I’m hoping one day I’ll find my other half just like Kate and have faith that it doesn’t have to happen at the same time as my best friends or in college!!!! <3

THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO:

I recently found Tess Christine on YouTube and love her New York City series!!!! She’s seriously so pretty and does an amazing job putting together this series! Check out her Video NYC GUIDE: Top Instagram Photo Locations!

THIS GAL:

Y’all talk about a blessing in my life! Literally, Michelle Horton is a blessing! She has literally touched my heart this last month with reaching out to me on Instagram and giving me the opportunity to feature her clothes on 1998miss.com! She has a beautiful heart and wants to help young women succeed! Her store has so many beautiful pieces and I featured two of them here! Go follow Michelle by clicking here!

THIS BLESSING:

I am going to be writing a featured blog post for Michelle at Skirt Society weekly!! EEEK EEEK EEK! GOD IS SO GOOD Y’ALL! I am getting paid to do what I love writing!! I am going to get to share an exclusive inspirational post on her website every Wednesday! Just a little tease of what they will be about: positivity, fashion, and faith!! These posts will be for women of all ages and will serve to inspire and cultivate an environment celebrating women!

Well, I’m all out of coffee so let’s catch up again soon! It was so good to see you and thanks for stopping by! Even in the middle of complete craziness, God is working in my life! I love Y’all!!

XOXO,

A List of 12 Things I Love Right Now | COFFEE DATE

July 20, 2018

I am inspired to do this blog post on 1998miss.com because one of my all time favorite bloggers Olivia Rink just did this post and I loved it! She’s darling so go follow her on Instagram and check out her blog! She’s the perfect little blonde barbie doll raised in KY but based out of Chicago….her pictures are insane-ALWAYS!

A TREND I LOVE:

I lalalalalaLOVE the trend of wearing sneakers with dresses/buisness casual clothes! It’s just so fun and comfy! It’s a spicy way to give that NEW YORK quick commute trend a home in your closet! I love to wear a blazar with a jean skirt and some sneakers. While this trend may be to spicy for some it never hurts to get out of your box and give it a try. While in China I picked up some Louis Vuitton labeless sneaker dupes from TAOBAO (on online store for under $30) and paired them with a relaxed yet dressy look!! Here are a few of my favorite ways to wear this trend!

THIS INSTAGRAM EDIT:

I have fallen in love with using TEZZA’S PRESETS TO EDIT MY IG PHOTOS! It is literally becoming a way of life for me now! I seriously love the filter Vintage and I can edit quickly through her app available by clicking here. I have stopped using any other filter and honestly get excited to see what each photo will look like through her presets! She also only has a few on the app which helps it not be so overwhelming! I hope to eventually create my own presets or buy a more pricey set of presets through another blogger I love….but for now this is perfect!

I lalalalalallalove her presets and I love having a set filter for all of my instagram pictures. It’s nice having a similar edit/asthetic going which a major tip from all bloggers-keep the same filter people enjoy seeing presets.

It’s $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year. I am currently just paying monthly but see it as an investment to purchase it for an entire year very soon! P.S. It’s cooler than VSCO!

THIS NAIL POLISH:

SAMOAN SAND by O.P.I. and it’s under $12!!! It’s the perfect nude and since it’s nude you almost can never tell when it’s chipping away! I keep it in my purse and touch up whenever I notice a situation! It has saved me so much money to do my own manicure and in the summer it’s honestly great! Also I have searched for the perfect nude my whole entire nail polish painting existence and this is pretty much it.

THIS BOOK:

How to Be a Hepburn in a Kardashian World: The Art of Living with Style, Class, and Grace by Jordan Christy! It was  given to me by my friend Hannah Katt! We’re both reading the book and are discussing it together! Love it-has advice on every chapter of life and is easy to stay interested in! Seriously I finished in like 3 days. Get it here  for under $20! A great gift for any gal in your life!

THIS INSTAGRAM POST:

This post literally brings me such Joy and I can not wait for y’all to read it!

Click this link here to see this insane story on instagram told by a Muslim Woman Activist I met at Sewanee months ago through my good friend Zahnib Kalsoom! SERIOUSLY GO READ IT RIGHT NOW ANS COME BACK TO 1998miss.com BECAUSE IT IS SO GOOD!

THIS SONG:

I am obsessed with this song called Help Us To Love by Tori Kelly featuring the HamilTones! It’s Tori Kelly’s gospel song and I mean to tell you it’s on repeat all day long! It’s such an uplifting song and I love to sing along-soulful for sure! Thanks Hannah Katt for showing it to me…I know TK is your girl!

Listen here: Help Us to Love by Tori Kelly featuring the HamilTones!

POSTING ONCE EVERY WEEK ON YOUTUBE:

Do y’all love following youtubers with new content every week? ME TOO! I seriously love knowing who’s going to post on what days so I can look forward to watching and countdown! I’m trying to jump into this mode and I’ve been successful thus far! I have a lot of cool content so go subscribe by clicking here!

THIS MESSAGE SERIES:

Always love my church The Pentecostals of North West Arkansas and Elevation Church (Steven Furtick)!

THIS TO REDUCE YOUR STRESS:

Listen to this song, pray and just give it to God. Way Maker covered at BOTT conference.

THIS QUOTE:

GUILTY PLEASURE:

Y’all recently I’m always dying for a splenda sweetened iced tea and an order of cheddar peppers from Sonic! I’m literally always craving them-thanks mom!

A SCENT I LOVE:

I love Coco Mademoiselle so much, it’s my everyday scent! I apply it once in the morning and it lasts all day and all day long I get questions about what I’m wearing!!! I’m thinking about making it my signature scent!

Coffee Date February

February 5, 2018

Coffee Date #1

Hey, friends hope everyone has had a delightful Monday and a great start to the week!

Today I am going to be doing a little coffee date with Y’all! This is something that a few of my favorite bloggers do on their blogs and youtube channels! I think the idea is cute, fun and something I want to introduce on 1998miss.com!

Basically, I’ll just give you a little life update, some of my favorite things in my wardrobe, purse or routine, my favorite bible verse of the week, song, movie, book, drink…..you get the picture. I also might be sharing a high and a low of the week! It is something I am still considering. So without further ado let’s get this thing going.

TBH if we were actually getting coffee I would be most likely be drinking a skinny vanilla latte or a large ice water! I also really enjoy Chi Tea but cut it out my life because of the high sugar content!

So this weekend what did I do?

The first weekend of February was a fun one because I did a photoshoot I have been wanting to do for a while now! It’s in a little blue high low ballgown from Dillard’s! I originally ordered it for an event where I was a guardian angel for Toni-Leslie James (PAUSE FOR SUPER DRAMATIC REACTION) but ended up wearing an Adriana Papell sparkle floor length gown instead. I have to tell you that this might be one of my favorite experiences at Sewanee thus far! Mrs. James is an award-winning costume designer and I was given the privilege of showing her around Sewanee! I also got to attend a black tie honorary degree dinner to honor Sewanee’s special guests! HOW FUN! So anyways the blue dress was beautiful but just ended up being the wrong gown for that particular event! I still put it to good use shooting a photoshoot in our beautiful DuPont library in Sewanee! I was able to get many fabulous shots with a cascading blue ball gown between bookshelves! I work in DuPont and it was such a delight to finally do some photos there! Shoutout for my roommate for taking them….Miranda you rock! There will be a full blog post coming soon all about this beautiful BLUE DRESS!

I also have to mention my favorite song/album of the week….All Creation (LIVE) by Indiana Bible College. My best friend Hannah Katt is the one who pointed out this album to me and I love it! Y’all have to listen if you like praise music or just good music! It’s available on itunes just click here!

My favorite wardrobe/clothing item of the week is my ugg boots from the New Year’s Day sale at Dillard’s. I opened them in an unboxing video on my youtube channel. You can watch that here! They are just a delight to wear because they are SOOOO warm! They are also pretty trendy with the slight heal and fur on the outside! 12/10 recommend. LOVE!

My favorite food this week is the same as always…a specially made salad from McClurg my dining hall. It has all sorts of greens with blue cheese, tomatoes, crunchies, cranberries and a dash of balsamic vinaigrette! SO TASTY! I love to find little ways to spice up the dining hall and keep it healthy!

My favorite routine item of the week is something my friend Hannah also introduced me to and I have been doing it since she told me back in January! It’s podcasts by Elevation Church!! They are so uplifting and I really enjoy listening to them while I get ready for class and during my shifts at the library! Keeps me feeling positive! Thanks, Hannah!!!

HIGH OF THE WEEK!!!! My travel bff, another prayer sister, and just great gal Regan Hampton got engaged!! PAUSE FOR SCREAM! I am so so so happy she is going to marry her prince charming and I get to share in their big day! I will be a bridesmaid for my beautiful friend who I traveled to TN, Africa, NYC and more with! Such a God-ordained friendship and I am so blessed it has lasted! We have shared so many special memories together and she never ceases to amaze me! She’s a spiritual encouragement and true friend! Love you, Regan Elizabeth Hampton! Thank you for including me!

I will actually be a bridesmaid in three weddings in 2018! Crazy right??!!! 3 of my very good friends are all engaged to be married! My childhood best friends Abbie Oglesby and Mariah Bridgewater! I am so delighted to be sharing in these huge moments! I am so blessed I have always had really good friends and I am so thankful for that. I also can’t believe my friends are getting married! It feels so crazy! I am about to turn 20 years old and am finally seeing my little girl dreams coming true. I can remember countless sleepovers talking about our dream weddings and future lives! SO FUN TO SEE IT HAPPENING NOW!

LOW OF THE WEEK!!! I have a molecular biology 233 exams this week and I feel incredibly stressed about it! So keep me in your prayers this week and if you know any super great study tips for cell bio send them my way!

My favorite bible verse of the week was one I actually shared in my IT HAD TO HAPPEN post linked here!! It’s Psalms 27:14  Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Sometimes in life, we just have to wait and trust the Lord because his timing is always perfect! It’s been a great word of encouragement for me these past few weeks!

The book I am currently reading is actually a gift from my aunt Stacy. It’s one of her favorite books and she sent it to me. I have really enjoyed it as it offers many different perspectives and beautiful stories of helping the less fortunate. While it doesn’t entirely embody my ideals and values it is still a great read with many valuable lessons. We should always take time to educate ourselves about different ideals, beliefs, and values than our own. If we do this we can better understand the people around us while still respecting their values even if they differ from our own. Being a student at Sewanee has really shown me this! While we must give respect to others we must also have the expectation to be respected. Your values are not wrong just because they are not the popular opinion. I am thankful for a diverse experience at Sewanee as it has made me a better person and has shown me a thing or two about character. The book is called The Blue Sweater by Jacqueline Novogratz. You can get it here!!

Thank you for thinking of me aunt Stacy.

Well, friends, I believe that’s all we have time for this week! I really enjoyed this and would love to do it again! Please take the time to let me know what you are up to this week as reading your comments is one of my greatest delights. XOXO!

Bless others and be blessed!
XOXO,

Alexa Sue-Anne Dudley

“I’m tired of waiting”

April 7, 2018

Waiting for something.

Hey Y’all so happy to finally be posting something after a long UNPLANNED break from blogging-school has been crazy! Growing up I never thought I would pursue the doctor route and even more so learn the Chinese language! That being said I have my work cut out for me but I’m blessed to have the opportunity to study these things at Sewanee! God is good.

While I have a few long-awaited posts I want to upload soon:

TESSA FOX (MY FIRST SEWANEE FEATURE)

MODEST WORK OUTWEAR

COFFEE DATE

EASTER 2018

today’s post “waiting for something” is taking the front seat because this is weighing heavy on my heart.

This writing deep thought provoking posts is something I am new at and I am happy that I have grown more comfortable with doing so-it’s been a long journey. It’s so easy to share the outfits I love, the things I’m studying, places I wanna travel to (what I an comfortable with) but it’s challenging to write and publish the raw emotions I feel-my emotions. That being said I want to do this because I believe in these raw moments you can relate to others and in these moments true beauty is found. These are the moments in which God is teaching you something.

(wait·ing)

the action of staying where one is or delaying action until a particular time or until something else happens.

Today was the first time I actually looked up the definition of waiting. My whole life I’ve had my own way to define waiting and that was simply not getting what I wanted when I wanted it. Plain and simple there it is human and selfish.

As humans we get angry about the little stuff like if we are in the drive-through line for more than five minutes because we want our food like ASAP. We demand instant gratification-we are obsessed with it. If we want something we can’t afford we can get a loan, a credit card or simply do lay away. The world caters to this “I want it right now” demand and it is so easy to put this same mentality into every aspect of our life. If we are not careful it can consume us. Things like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter can make this mentality worse. Have you have ever seen something on social media that you didn’t even know you wanted-we trick ourselves into wanting things we don’t actually want because someone else has it. This can be a great pair of shoes, to do something, to have something, to travel somewhere or the worst to be someone else. We see where someone else is in their life and want to fast forward ours. We want to be 16 already and be driving, we want to be graduated from high school and in college, we want to be working that fancy job, we want to be engaged, we want that puppy, we want to build our own house, we want to be in grad school already,  we want our blog to hurry up and grow, we want to be that successful on social media… We have to protect ourselves from this because it can make us deeply unhappy and blind us from seeing our own beauty, uniqueness and strength!

The tricky thing is when someone says wait they don’t always say how long. You could be waiting for something for five minutes or an hour. You could be waiting for an answer to a prayer for a few days or a few months. Here’s the big kicker you could even wait for a few years!!!! Wait how inconvenient of God right?… for like making us wait like doesn’t he know that we want what we want when we want it? Doesn’t he like want us to be happy and living our best lives? Wait like why doesn’t he just make it happen because we like NEED it to? He can do it like why won’t he? I like asked him for something like I prayed about it so….yeah why isn’t it happening?

We’ve all asked these questions or thought these things. Yes, me too. It’s okay!!!! EVERYONE feels this way at some point in life. NEWS FLASH WE ARE HUMAN. But it’s when we are asking these questions and when we are in these moments where we have the opportunity to learn to wait for a second and trust God. It took me a long time to learn that praying for what I wanted was a whole lot different than praying for God’s will and just talking to him about my life. When I learned to give God my hopes and desires saying here God you do with this what you want-I trust you…. my entire life changed. I mean like big changes, HUGE ONES LIKE MIRACLES. That doesn’t mean that I still don’t struggle with being impatient! The truth is I absolutely struggle with it but I have learned time and time again that God’s will for my life far exceeds my own. His timing is always right. I know this because I would never have dreamed for myself to be on the pre-med track, studying Chinese, writing a blog, meeting influential people, traveling all over the world and God giving me crazy insane blessings.

I am writing this because it’s so easy to get out of touch with God and get impatient. It’s easy to look at someone else and get frustrated and upset. It’s also easy to stop waiting and settle. This is the most dangerous thing we can do and I don’t mean like exciting dangerous I mean like devastatingly dangerous. We can not trust God and we can take action ourselves that might be good for a while even great but can take us places we might never have wanted to go. We can settle for less than what God has for us we can settle ourselves out of our blessing.

It’s dangerous to be impatient. It’s dangerous to settle.

I have been praying for something very specific for what seems like forever and in this new season of life, it is so easy for me to get impatient when waiting for the answer. It is so easy for me to get upset and start asking those questions I mentioned before. Honestly, sometimes I still do ask them but when I do I always come back to the real deal with Jesus. I eventually give it to him and pray for his will. This is beautiful because we learn to depend on God! There is beauty in the waiting period because while I see what I want and what is in front of me God sees my whole life and he has the perfect plan for every aspect. He knows exactly what we need.

Have you ever prayed for something got it and realized it wasn’t what you wanted?

Have you ever prayed for a door to open and an opportunity arrises but then the door shuts?

Have you ever met someone and then they turned out to be the complete opposite of what you expected?

Have you ever wanted something in the moment and later realized you were wrong?

Have you ever done something out of impatience and then felt huge regret?

Me too. But one door closes-another opens. Two doors close-I’m gonna praise him in the hallway. GOD’S GOT THIS. TRUST HIM!

I trust Jesus because he has never let me down. His way is always better. I want what he wants for me in his perfect timing. His love is never ending and he is always looking out for you. So trust him.

Oh and if you’re in the hallway:

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Isaiah 40:31
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Proverbs 16:32
Better a patient person than a warrior,
one with self-control than one who takes a city.

2 Peter 3:8 | NIV |
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Psalm 27:14 | NIV |
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

I’m waiting and I am sure you are waiting for something too. I hope that this encourages you because it has been heavy on my heart to share. We must be strong in the Lord and be patient because he’s got it all worked out.

I love y’all and thank you for taking the time to read this post! I’d love to hear any comments you might have or any stories about patience in your life!! Feel free to comment below, email me or DM me on Instagram.

“After graduation (at Sewanee!)  I wanted to pursue design. I went to Parson during the summer and took a class and that was like the hardest thing I have ever done. There isn’t a thing like that here. I got good exposure and realized how challenging that field is. I realized I needed to either go to graduate school or work in fashion/design somewhere to see where that would take me.”

“I decided to just go for the gold!”

“I just really got out there and started looking! I was primarily interviewed by Women besides Sam Edelman himself during my journey. I looked into Archeticual Digest and publishing. I started with no connections-I realized I was going to have to get into this field on my own. Throughout the summer after graduation I would commute to NYC and interview with people-if they weren’t my connection they knew someone who was! It was really cool but also exhausting. My favorite part of this journey had to be meeting people-people are so inspiring.”

“On a particular coffee meeting with a connection through family/Sewanee, I met someone who was connected to the Sam Edelman brand. Long story short-I landed an interview with Sam Edelman himself. This was the big shots and after a long summer searching I was thrilled!”

*Me: What did you wear! Already knowing it would be the perfect look!*

“I wore all black! A pair of tailored pants with a simple black blouse with darling cap sleeves-I wore my first pair of Sam Edelman shoes-The Loraine Loafers inspired a bit by Gucci! They were leopard so that was my fun pop! I was classic, put together and excited.  I actually cut my hair for my interview after reading an article in Vogue talking about the bob being back! I was sp inspired and just went for it! (BTW it is so darling!!) I wanted something exciting! I actually ended up mentioning this in my interview-How I follow the trend and I not only love it but live it! I talked about cutting my hair which really interested Sam.”

“Something I appreciate most about Sam Edelman is that he is so personal! He and his wife have a real success and they are so kind. They are also just the absolute coolest people ever-a small company feel but are actually very big!”

“It’s honestly so interesting Alexa, the difference in the fashion house companies. I learned all of this throughout my journey too!”

“So this was a huge year for Sam Edelman!!! We are the number one successful dress shoe brand at department stores in the united states. We are all about comfort! We don’t do anything unless it is comfortable and fabulous! Our customer is practical and I know you know that Alexa.”

“Sam Edelman is not fast fashion! We are intentional in our design and we put our own inspiration on every piece. Essentially every year the Sam Edelman team will go to Europe and go anywhere and everywhere buying what inspires them. It could be a feather-whatever it is gets grouped together and put in designing out shoes. We start wow and then shoe design trickles down into a wow yet practical.”

“Sam Edelman has it’s own identity! We are our own.”

P.S. Y’all I even got an inside scoop on next falls promotion design! That’s off the record of course! 😉

Surely, God Doesn’t Care Who I Marry

February 9, 2018

Surely, God Doesn’t Care Who I Marry

“Be patient as I prepare him as well”

I was just merely 15 years old when God spoke these exact words to me.

I never expected for God to care about who I want to spend my life with. I never expected God to care who I thought was cute, or who gave me butterflies. He’s the creator of the WHOLE EARTH! Why was my emotionally driven, boy-chasing, immature heart even thought about? SURELY He has better things to attend to. God quickly shifted my thinking.

At 13 years old, I made a list of what I wanted in a spouse and I prayed over it.

My Future Husband:

blue eyes

loves God more than he’ll ever love me

sing and play instruments

There were some other details I put in there and I said, “Alright, Lord. This is exactly what I want. I dare you to provide it. I challenge you.”

(oh, how brave I sound, as if God couldn’t do it)

Fast forward 2 years, and God speaks to me. That one small sentence gave me so much peace, but it also gave me one of the largest revelations I’ve ever received. This powerful word from my creator told me 4 things.

1. BE PATIENT

We must never try to step ahead of the hand of God. He is God. We are not. Let God do the thing He has always done: provide. Quit trying to reach the destination and start learning in the journey.

2. He already has someone picked out for me

HE CARES. We must never forget that God knows exactly what He is doing. Every single small detail (even the ones we don’t notice) is for a specific purpose and plan. He is the Author and the Finisher. Which means He wrote this life you’re living in and saw it PERFECT for you. He knew you could handle it. He sees all and He knows all. Therefore, He sees your future spouse, too. Exactly where He’s at, what He’s doing, and where’s He’s going.

3. God is preparing and molding him perfect for me

A relationship is more than kissing, hugging, and compliments. If that’s all you want a relationship for, then you’re missing the point of what you really need. Ladies, a man was created to lead you. How can he lead you through this life, if he can’t even lead himself? Watch what direction he is walking and that is going to be the exact place he’ll be directing you. Deny all you want, but you can’t change how the Creator created us. What business does a godly woman have with an ungodly man?

4. God is also preparing me and molding me for him

The key to every relationship is not what you get, but what you can give. God hears your prayers, I promise He does. Also, know God is working on you. It is absolutely not wrong to desire a partner in this crazy adventurous life. Desires ARE NOT WRONG. They only become wrong when you desire it more than the God who created you with those desires (idolatry). If you’re in a place where you desire someone to hold your hand and give you a couple smooches, maybe consider you’re not quite in a place where you are prepared for the man God has set aside specifically for you. You can’t expect for this future spouse of yours to measure up on every bullet point on your checklist and you not measure up to anything on his. You can’t expect for him to have all these things to offer and you have nothing. What business does a godly man have with an ungodly woman?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

ALL, see that word in there? Yeah, that means everything. Even the way that dude makes your heart feel. He even wants you to submit those feelings to Him.

There were many times where I left the plan of God and put matters into my own hands. That just put me 20,000 steps behind. There were many times where I felt like God had forgotten about the prayers (hence the whole “playing God” act). But through submitting myself over and over and over and over again, God led to me the most perfect, enthusiastic, outgoing, and HOLY GHOST filled man I could ever ask for. And guess what? Blue eyes? CHECK. Singer and musician? UH, yeah. I think he sings to me more than he speaks to me. Loves God more than he could ever love me? DEF CHECK.
