BUSY, COLLEGE, & CHIC
Yay for freshman orientation being all day every day…or so it seems. Today I actually got to sleep in-until 8 AM that is. 🙂 We had breakfast, headed to the library open house, had advisor meetings, and have a host of other things left to do. It seems I am all orientated out at this point. LOL. I am excited for free time tonight at 9PM for some quality time with my closet because she needs some TLC. Today’s look was inspired by the comfort that comes in wearing a t-shirt, but of course I couldn’t leave it at that. This look needed to be chic and comfy-which it was. I love the combo that this look created of comfort and cuteness. 🙂 It’s so fun to dress up a t-shirt because it can be creative and inventive + fun!! Okay now I’ve rambled on about “This Look” & “This T-Shirt” for like ever!!! SO.

Sunday’s at Sewanee
So if you’re curious about my routine on Sunday & if it’s changed much since my routine at home, I’d have to say yes! I am in college and I AM STILL ATTENDING CHURCH! This is a main priority when going to college, it was absolutely a deciding factor in my choice to attend Sewanee. I appreciate the level of higher education but also the recognition of religion. Although I do not traditionally practice an Episcopalian faith I do believe in the principle of God. I find the episcopalian faith very interesting and actually beautiful. If you’ve seen All Saint’s Chapel at Sewanee or learned of the traditions of this region you would agree with me. Anyways…I moved in 2 weeks ago to study religion in FYP but it was so busy that I even had class on Sunday! I didn’t get to go to church!!! 🙁 Today I finally was able to attend and boy was I glad I got too! You don’t know how much you miss something until it’s gone. I miss my home church in Rogers, Arkansas but was welcomed with open arms today to a friends church. I met Trey Kelly on my mission trip to Madagascar, where I discovered he lived 40 minutes from the campus I was moving to. His parents pastor the church I attended today. It was so nice to see a familiar face and be able to feel at home. I’m excited to be getting through freshman orientation on Wednesday and being able to start classes!!!! As I said before I am going to launch a youtube channel for 1998miss.com!!! YAY One of the topics I plan to talk about is COLLEGE + CHURCH & MY ROUTINE.

Pink & Preppy
Sewanee + Alexa = Pink & Preppy. I love going to Plenary Lectures because the conversation is intriguing and the fashion is alive. In public school there wasn’t consistent effort in Class Dress like here at The University of The South. Everyday students at Sewanee dress for success! This is going to be an exciting new chapter in my life because I am suddenly going to be surrounded with inspiration. I look forward to learning more about Southern trends and how I can put my own little spin on them!

THAT’S RIGHT I SAID IT…..I GET TO GO TO CHURCH TOMORROW. YAY! It’s been far to long y’all-I haven’t gotten to go since I’ve been on the mountain and that’s been far to long. I’ll be attending a church in TN that my friend Trey Kelly’s attends. I met Trey in Madagascar, Africa this summer. Throwback to my trip to TN with Regan Hampton this summer to TN Camp Meeting. Shoutout to you Regan, I love & miss you so much.
I look forward to sharing more about Miranda later but for now I’ll just be sharing this one photograph. Miranda is from China and she traveled all the way to America to get a good college education. Miranda is the sweetest friend I’ve made at Sewanee. I love her already. She never ceases to put a smile on my face. She said “we are BBF”-then she laughed and corrected herself saying, “I mean we are BFF”. I mean it too y’all…we are BFF already. Miranda loves New Balances too! You’ll be able to get to know Miranda more when I reveal my dorm on 1998miss.com! It’s in the works….release date September!!!! I am so excited to share how my mom and I transformed the space!

Field Trip to Nashville.
Hey y’all! I’m taking this religion class here in FYP at Sewanee. My course is taught by Dr. Brown and it has been the most intriguing experience at Sewanee yet. I can say I love learning again. I feel so challenged and interested in exploring the different religious practices on the Cumberland Plato. I feel inspired to again witness truth to all those lost that I encounter. I hope to be a light to the Buddist people, the Hindu people, the agnostic people and those who just don’t know Jesus. I hope to share with them through my actions that Christ lives inside of me. I want people to know that there is POWER in the name of JESUS. I felt inspired in my commitment to modesty all over again being on Sewanee’s campus. I am a light of the living truth and what better way to be set apart than by my modest apparel. I am sharing my blog with others which in turn is another outlet in which I can minister to those I encounter. I don’t feel worried when people ask me “what is it that you believe?”, “what is your religion?” or “why do you only wear skirts?”- Instead I feel excited to answer these people. I simply want to say that my whole life has changed because of my God. I mostly say I am a Apostolic Pentecostal and I believe in only one God, Jesus Christ. Duet 6:4 Anyways let’s get down to business on how you can

P.S. I got the best compliment today from my friend Keely, She said “I know who you look like….Serena Van Der Woodson! You’ve even got the hair”. How could I not just squeeze this girl after this beautiful compliment. What teen girl doesn’t want to be called a replica of the BEAUTIFUL BLAKE LIVELY (Also Happy Birthday…even though you probably won’t ever read this)
That’s all for now about this look.
P.P.S. I had my first dinning experience eating Indian Cuisine in Nashville today with my FYP class. It was delicious and the perfect meal after we visited the Hindu temple where I felt a deeper connection to witness truth all over this world.
1920’s Night / FYP IS OVER
Sewanee has a tradition of ending the 2 week glorious period called FYP by having a grand ole party on the last night. We celebrated (FYP) the fact we had found our place and made many new friends. Each FYP group had a “theme” chosen by the mentors where we would dress ourselves by finding one item from Goodwill to wear. We had the option of a “oversized sweater” or “1920’s chic”! I chose this grey/black/silver dress and had to revamp it a bit. The necktie on the front was actually straps that I cut off-it worked well i think! I made my headband out of random things I could find in my room. LOL. I think it’s safe to say that I pulled off this 1920’s look with chic style. It goes to show you that you can make anything fashionable but only with confidence will it become a look to remember. I also wanted to comment on how easy it was to make this look modest and relevant! LACE MID TOP UNDERNEATH-PREVIOUS POSTS INCLUDE LINK & MORE INFO.
I would like to shout out to my amazing mentors Lam & Lauren for being the coolest. I can honestly say I love you guys-even when FYP is over. 🙂 You’re the bestest.

Basically I haven’t seen my best friends all summer. I’ve been adventuring all over & I’ve missed these gals. Last night we reunited & IT WAS THE BEST. I seriously love my friends with all my heart. This whole moving to TN & being away from squad is blissful torture. I’m so excited that I’m going to my dream school & that I’ve been afforded the opportunity of a lifetime but I’m sure gonna miss my family & friends. You know if I’m just being blunt I’d just sum up this whole situation as GOODBYE’S SUCK. THEY ARE BAD.
Yesterday we went for a swim at squad house, got ready together, went to ROGERS for sushi & custard, took a joy ride, jammed to Boyz II Men on repeat, went to Walmart to buy peanut butter, hit up a friends house, did a drive by knock sing & hide, drove around some more, went home to squad house, talked, laughed, CRIED BIG TEARS, went night swimming, watched our favorite SQUAD movie, ordered breakfast pizza at 2 AM, snuggled, & SAVORED EVERY LAST SECOND TOGETHER. OH YA THEN WE CRIED ALL OVER AGAIN THIS MORNING. Gosh I love you guys.
SO READY TO BE ALL TOGETHER AGAIN SOMEDAY WHILE WE ARE LIVING OUR LIVES AS YOUNG ADULTS.
My heart smiles at our friendship.
to everyone out there, get yourself some good friends…..by good friends I mean GALS WHO WILL LOVE YOU THROUGH IT ALL. Find three girls & make yourselves a bond that has a value money can’t buy. I’ll tell you, FRIENDSHIP IS THE GREATEST GIFT. I wouldn’t be the best Alexa without my friends.

I was at Lake of The Ozarks this weekend with my family from Cali & these sweet floaties were a necessity!! I enjoyed them & so did the little ones playing at the pool. BEAUTIFUL! Today we hiked to the waterfall at Angel Lake while Grandad, Pam, & Matt went fishing for dinner. It was a long hike to the top but boy it sure was beautiful. I loved getting to experience Nevada with Luke & Molly. After we adventured to the top, took some photos, examined some rocks, went under the waterfall & got soaked we headed back for the lake. We found some rocks the plunged over Angel Lake so Molly, Luke, & I decided we’d jump. They went on ahead & I stayed back to take pictures. I crossed a little muddy area & slipped into the water getting my new backpack, camera & Apple Watch wet. It felt like a movie I thought I was going to save the stuff but then I slipped again. Luckily my backpack provided water proof protection & the only thing damaged was my big camera lens. (It’s working now PRAISE THE LORD) I still managed to get excellent pictures & we all three jumped into the cold abyss of water. Laughing until we froze when we hit the water. It was such a memorable day!
